THE PAW CATALOG
Origin: France
This is a French falcon, the number of which fell significantly after the Second World War. There were no entries in the French studbook from 1963 to 1973, and the breed club ceased operations. In 1970, Michel Comte found the remains of the lines, registered the first dogs in 1973-1975, and other breeders built lines on their basis. The club was restored in 1981, and the breed was first brought to the USA in 1988.
The Bourbon breed is a French short-haired brindle with a "wine grape" or "peach blossom" color. Good-natured, faithful and very active in the field. Needs daily movement, communication with family and nose work.

Suitable for hunters and active people. Good-natured at home, likes to be close to his family. Bored without movement and work.
A healthy adult dog needs daily intensive activities: running, sniffing, searching. He works at a gallop and quickly changes direction. The load of puppies and elderly dogs is adjusted with the veterinarian.
Attentive and motivated. Positive reinforcement, olfactory games and short activities work. Calling is practiced from puppyhood.
The short, thin coat is combed approximately once a week. After walks, the skin, paws and ears are examined. Claws are regularly trimmed and teeth are brushed.
Usually good-natured and devoted to the family. Very active, so an adult monitors the contact, and the child is explained the rules of a calm game.
Usually peaceful with other dogs. The hunting instinct can manifest itself in relation to birds and small animals.
Estimates help compare breeds. For zooaggression, 5/5 means less tendency to aggression towards dogs. The behavior and health of a particular dog depend on many factors.
Moderately high score: the breed likes to be close to the family. Actual behavior depends on socialization.
The rating is average, because there is a lack of comparative data on the "Bourbon Brak" breed. Actual behavior depends on upbringing, socialization and experience.
Average score: The Bourbon breed is usually peaceful with other dogs, and small animals are judged separately due to their hunting instinct.
The survival rate of the Bourbon breed in the British cohort is not comparable. The absence of the described risks does not guarantee the absence of hereditary diseases, so the breeder is asked for the results of the parents' examinations.
High rating: the wool of the "Bourbon Brak" breed is combed once a week, and the rest of the care is simple.
Breed screening: there is little detailed data on hereditary diseases, and at the beginning of the restoration of the breed, inbreeding occurred. Ask the breeder for documentary results of examinations of both parents.
Musculoskeletal system: growth and load should correspond to age. Lameness, pain, or reluctance to move require a veterinary examination. Some puppies are born with a short tail or without it: this is a hereditary feature.
A preventive examination of the Bourbon breed includes an evaluation of the eyes, heart and ears. The frequency of special inspections is determined by the recommendations of the club and the veterinarian.
