Origin: Brazil
This is a Brazilian breed that was traditionally used for catching and keeping livestock, particularly in slaughterhouses. After the banning of such dogs in Brazilian slaughterhouses in the 1970s and the popularity of imported breeds, the number of the breed fell sharply. A private breeding program began in the mid-1970s and the population gradually recovered. The Brazilian Kennel Confederation recognized the breed in 2001, and the FCI in 2025.
The Brazilian Campeiro Bulldog is a strong short-haired bulldog for working with livestock. Brave and hardy, but known for intolerance of other dogs. Requires an experienced owner, early socialization and secure fencing.

Suitable for people with experience working with strong rocks and strong fencing. It is a working dog with a high energy level, so without loads and rules it becomes problematic. Long daily loads are required in the apartment.
A healthy adult dog needs daily intensive activities: walks, work, pulling and smelling tasks. The load of puppies and elderly dogs is adjusted with the veterinarian.
The breed learns well, but needs firm, calm and consistent guidance. Early socialization is mandatory, learning on positive reinforcement. Rough methods are not suitable.
The short, smooth coat is combed approximately once a week. Claws are regularly trimmed, ears and teeth are cleaned.
He is devoted to his family, but strong and energetic. An adult monitors every contact with children and guests.
The breed is known for its aggressive reaction to other dogs, so early socialization, control and reliable fencing are required. Contact with other animals is evaluated individually.
Estimates help compare breeds. For zooaggression, 5/5 means less tendency to aggression towards dogs. The behavior and health of a particular dog depend on many factors.
