Ancient breed from Sicily. It is believed that its ancestors are hunting dogs of Ancient Egypt, which were spread by Phoenician traders. There are images of similar dogs on coins and mosaics from several centuries BC. The main purpose is hunting for rabbits on the stony lava slopes of Etna. The breed came to Australia in 2020.

Determined, attached to the owner, attentive, with a strong will. A wonderful family dog that loves movement and needs a calm but consistent attitude.

Suitable for active families and sports owners. Likes to be around people, does not tolerate loneliness well. The hunting instinct requires a fenced area.
Moderate Daily walks, running in a safe area and games. Loves the chase and search.
Intelligent but strong-willed: patience, consistency and reward are required. Basic obedience is a must. Classes are short and varied. Recall is trained from an early age.
Dense, smooth fur, about 2.5 cm long, needs weekly brushing and infrequent bathing. Ears, teeth and claws are examined regularly. In winter, the dog gets cold, so it needs clothes.
