French lack of the Pyrenean type

🇫🇷

History of the breed French breed Pyrenean type

Origin: France

The roots go back to an ancient type of ligavy in the central Pyrenees and in the south of France. At the end of the 19th century, the breed almost disappeared, and at the beginning of the 20th century, it was restored. Since 1975, the Pyrenean type has been recognized separately from the larger Gascon type. It is used on feathered game: the dog steadily points to the prey and raises the shot bird.

The French Pyrenean type is a lighter and smaller relative of the Gascon: height at the withers is 47-58 cm (preferably 50-55 cm), drier structure, thinner and shorter hair. A lively, fast and friendly dog that is easy to learn. A hunting breed that loves movement and working with a person, but behaves calmly at home if it has received a load.

Life is nearby

Suitable for active owners who like long walks and are ready to exercise with their dog every day. Its smaller size and shorter coat make it more comfortable in everyday life than the Gascon type, but an apartment without walks and work will not suit it.

Walks

High Daily long walks, running in a safe area, games of fetch and fetch help her stay balanced. With a small load, it can become annoying.

Training

Learns quickly, cooperates willingly and responds well to praise and treats. Like all puppies, she needs early socialization and recall training. Classes are made short and varied.

Care

The fine short coat is easy to care for: it is enough to brush once a week, more often during the two seasonal molts. Ears are cleaned, paws and skin are examined after walks in nature. Nails are trimmed.

Children

Usually gentle and sociable, gets along well with children. Because of liveliness, it can knock down the baby during the game, so communication is controlled by an adult. The child is taught to behave calmly and not to limit the dog's space.

Other animals
