Stabihun

🇳🇱

History of the Stabihun breed

Origin: The Netherlands

It comes from the Dutch province of Friesland, where it was an ordinary farm dog. Mentioned in Frisian literature since the beginning of the 19th century, officially recognized in 1942. At the same time, crossbreeding with the Wetterhun was stopped in order to protect both rare breeds. There are only a few thousand of them in the world, and in the Netherlands the breed is considered a national treasure.

Stabihun is a medium (50-53 cm, 20-25 kg) Dutch universal hunting dog with long, smooth, soft fur, usually black and white in color. Calm, friendly, intelligent, sensitive and patient. Needs movement, gentle upbringing and closer contact with people.
